Access Assessment

The role of an Access Consultant is to ensure that buildings and public spaces are accessible for everyone, including people with disabilities.

The purpose of an Access Assessment is to ensure that places and spaces meet the current Disability (Access to Premises – Building) Standards and comply with Australian Standards and the National Construction Code so as to promote use by all persons regardless of ability.  An Access Assessment includes assessment of building elements such as ramps, elevators, paths of travel, sanitary facilities and clear signage. Their goal is to create inclusive environments where everyone can move around safely and comfortably.

SDA Assessment

The role of an SDA Assessor is to assess that intended or newly constructed homes for people with disabilities meet specific design category standards.  The purpose is to ensure the property is accessible and offers appropriate facilities to optimise the intended resident’s function, safety and quality of life. An SDA Design Category Assessment is undertaken against strict criteria and usually requires an inspection before and after construction.  The home must comply or exceed all identified requirements before the home can be enrolled as an SDA property.  This rigorous assessment ensures that the home will be suitable for the intended users requirement.
